UA-76545833-1 Handcrafts made at Gorge River by the Long Family using solar power
The Story
A few years ago, I designed a possum hat to keep myself warm on an expedition to Antarctica. The aviator style with at least one layer of thick possum fur around the entire hat turned out to be far warmer than any other hat on the market. I have since made a small amount of these hats that are now keeping expeditioners to the southern continent warm and cosy. With the exception of furs like arctic fox, beaver or reindeer I guarantee that you will not find a warmer hat.
The possum skins used for the products available here are locally sourced. In fact they are all from the forest around my home at Gorge River, New Zealand. They are tanned professionally in Invercargill and then sewn together back at Gorge River on our solar powered fur sewing machine.
About New Zealand possum Fur

New Zealand possums are originally from Australia and are a different species to North American possums. They are a terrible pest that damage our native flora and fauna. By buying New Zealand possum fur you are supporting the capture of these animals and therefore helping to support the native New Zealand forest that our country is so proud of.
Please note that all items below are produced at Gorge River in remote New Zealand. Therefore, your order may take a few weeks to reach you. If you need your order sooner please contact me before ordering to see what we can arrange.

I bought the oilskin and the Russian hat. Both arrived promptly. Didn`t realised that the oilskin hat is a reversible hat(discover it accidentally).
    Love both hats. Thanks!
